Erdoğan calls on EU to deliver cash & visa-free travel

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Monday said the EU has not delivered on promises made under the EU-Turkey migration deal.

Erdoğan said Turkey had received around €1 to €2 million of the promised €3 billion under the deal, which allows Europe to send refugees from the Middle East who arrive in Greece back to Turkey in exchange for political and financial incentives.

“The European governments are not honest,” Erdoğan told German broadcaster ARD.

Erdoğan said the 3 million refugees from Syria and Iraq who currently reside in Turkey have cost the country €10 billion.

Referring to the EU’s promise to give Turks the right to travel visa-free in the EU, the Turkish president added: “We have kept our promise, but did the Europeans do so too?”
